FAQ
Everything You Need to Know.
Common questions about chemical peels at Vital Glow Spa โ answered honestly.
Does a chemical peel hurt?
Most clients feel a mild warming or tingling sensation during the peel application โ it's generally very comfortable. The sensation is brief and subsides once the peel begins working. Ashley will let you know exactly what to expect throughout the process.
How much downtime should I expect?
The VI Peel Original involves light peeling over 3โ5 days โ most clients can return to normal activities immediately and simply peel at home. The Precision + Peptides formula may produce slightly more visible peeling. Either way, you won't be hiding indoors โ just avoid heavy exercise, direct sun, and active skincare ingredients until your skin finishes peeling.
When will I see results?
Many clients notice brighter, smoother skin as soon as peeling is complete โ typically within 5โ7 days. Results continue to improve over the following 2โ3 weeks as your skin completes its renewal cycle. A series of peels spaced 4โ6 weeks apart delivers cumulative, longer-lasting improvement.
Can I wear makeup after my peel?
We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment. Once peeling begins, avoid picking or peeling the skin manually โ let it shed naturally. Mineral makeup is generally fine once initial sensitivity resolves. Ashley will give you a full aftercare guide specific to your peel.
What skincare should I avoid after a peel?
Until your skin is fully healed, avoid retinol, vitamin C serums, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), and any active or potentially irritating ingredients. Stick to a gentle cleanser, a good moisturizer, and SPF 30+ every single day โ sun protection is critical while your skin is renewing.
Is a chemical peel safe for all skin tones?
The VI Peel is formulated to be safe for a wide range of skin tones, including Fitzpatrick IVโVI. Ashley reviews your skin type and history during consultation to ensure the right formula and protocol โ so you get results without risk.
What's the difference between the VI Peel Original and Precision + Peptides?
The Original is a trusted, well-rounded formula that treats common skin concerns โ ideal for first-time peel clients and regular maintenance. Precision + Peptides builds on the Original formula with added peptides that promote firming, tightening, and deeper collagen stimulation. If you're dealing with visible signs of aging or want more significant results, Precision + Peptides is the next step up.
How often should I get a chemical peel?
For general skin maintenance and glow, every 4โ8 weeks is a great cadence. For more targeted concerns like texture, tone, or early signs of aging, a series of 3 treatments spaced 4โ6 weeks apart is often recommended. Ashley will help you build a treatment plan that makes sense for your skin and your schedule.
